Can you believe it is August already! Here on the farm it means be on top of the irrigation. First there was too much water from the rain and now the plants really need it. It also means we need to plant our fall crops--spinach, more carrots and beets and of course, more beans.
The heat has made the Heirloom tomatoes ripen quickly. The small Ceylons just keep coming and coming and the large ones have started to catch up.
Along with the tomatoes this week we have carrots, beets, our three different Kales, Swiss Chard, summer squash, spaghetti squash, kohlrabi, cucumbers, beans, sorrel, lettuce, and an assortment of herbs.
Bread is in the oven. Muffins and cookies are baked. Quiche on Saturday--preorder if you want something special. Is it too early for soup?
Stop in for some great food and veggies. If you have time, stay and look around the farm. The flowers by the koi pond are incredible this time of year.
